Freshman
This year was just a begining for me. First time being in the real workouts, first time racing in the real races, no more of the short middle school boys and girls races. I really started here, I was able to run with the first people to really make this team become nationally noticed. That was awesome for me to see and it really inspired me to be that much more of a better runner. Also during this year I broke the Freshman Records at my school in the 800m, 1600m, and the 3200m.

This year I was really apart of the Varsity team. For cross country I was mainly 6th guy, but sometimes 5th. I really was able to learn a lot from all of the seniors and really connect with them. We took Region and State and I metaled in some of the races which was kind of a new thing for me. Then, in track I was one of the top 4 distance guys on the team and was scoring points every race. I really improved on my times, but not enough to get any class or school records. But, I did individually win a race and that was awesome. I qualified for the 3200m and 1600m at state and took 3rd and 5th. And it was really a good improvement from last year.

| Did the Vo2 Max didn't feel so good when I was running I don't really know what it was. I was a little sore this last week so maybe it was that rubbing off a little bit. We also did some kind of Plyometrics and Tabata combination which was kind of fun in a really hard way.

| This was one of the best runs I have had in a while just because it was on a mountain and I got to run it with some of my closest friends. We ran at Little Black Mountain and got to look out over ST.George. It was really cool.

Cedar All Comers race and I didn't feel the greatest, but I felt pretty good I got a time of 16:53 and I am 9th on the team. 7 miles for the race (warm up, race, cool down) and had a little bit of a workout 5x:30 fartleks. All I have to say to the team is "We ran like pretzel day!"

In the afternoon there was a lightning storm, so we ran two miles inside the high school. After the storm had passed we went to the park and did the warm up which was 2.7 miles, two mile time trial was very good and broke my time from the last time I did it.

| I did a 2 mile warmup and then I raced my race started three different times, two of them being called back because someone tripped or something like that. I felt like I had the best race of my life. I felt really good and has the best finish of the year. I finished just over a second behind a Davis runner. The Desert Hills Freshman/Sophmore team finished second overall. And I finished with a cool down.

| I don't know what the warm-up mileage was, but after that we did some strides and then the race. The race was a lot different than what I thought it would be. The race was a lot faster paced than I thought it would be, especially for the layout of the course. It was really fun to run the race and show the rest of the region that just because we aren't on varsity doesn't mean that we don't mean business.

In the afternoon we ran an easy six miles that was supposed to be flat. And after did 8x100m strides. But, I was addressed by the coaches with Boston and Scott that we all had the opportunity to make it as the seventh spot and go to NXR with the rest of the varsity. And that makes me really excited and it gives me that extra incentive to push even harder.

| Today was the race and the first mile was way faster than I wanted it to be, I ran a 5:06. The second mile was slower than what I wanted it to be because of the first mile, I crossed the 2 mile mark at 10:56 which is a 5:50. The last 1.1 miles were 6:04 which isn't too bad, but not what I really wanted. 17:00 and the fifth Freshman across the line and 153 overall is great for my first year. I still have a lot to work on. The team got fourth overall and processed for NXN, but we only have a slim chance to make it. I hope that we will make it with an At Large Berth.

| Webb hill repeats, two mile warm up, then 12x30 seconds, but when we got to the tenth one chosen Coach told us we were doing fourteen hill repeats. That was good because it was not expected just like in a race, you must expect the unexpected. After that we cooled down.

| Today I went to the Footlocker course and had to wait forever in line to get a shirt, racing bib, and shoe chip. The break played some volleyball while we waited. Then we ran the three mile course. Which looks like a lot of fun.

| Today I ran the footlocker west race. As I warmed up I felt really good. As I got to the line I was still feeling some of those pre-race jitters. I did some strides to get ready. And got back to the line to wait for the gun. And the gun goes off and I ran out to get a good spot. As the front pack got together, I could tell that I was racing in the top ten for the first mile and I worked up the switchbacks, but as I got to the top my legs kind of gave out for a second. But I got a down hill to regain some strength. As I got down the hill I noticed that I was just behind the top ten and poopout hill was coming up. I knew that this hill was killer, and I still underestimated the power of that hill. I kept in that same spot till the beginning of reservoir hill and I went up that hill as best as I could, and passed another guy. As I reached the top of the hill I knew that I needed to kick it now or it would be to late. So I kicked at the top. I caught up to the people ahead of me and stuck on them as much as I could. When we hit the track I passed one of them and stuck with the other. When there was only about fifty meters left the person I passed entering the track had passed me back and then the race ended. I want to happy with my time our placement. But what happened happened and I must learn from it to get better.
