Freshman

This year was just a begining for me. First time being in the real workouts, first time racing in the real races, no more of the short middle school boys and girls races. I really started here, I was able to run with the first people to really make this team become nationally noticed. That was awesome for me to see and it really inspired me to be that much more of a better runner. Also during this year I broke the Freshman Records at my school in the 800m, 1600m, and the 3200m.

Sophmore

This year I was really apart of the Varsity team. For cross country I was mainly 6th guy, but sometimes 5th. I really was able to learn a lot from all of the seniors and really connect with them. We took Region and State and I metaled in some of the races which was kind of a new thing for me. Then, in track I was one of the top 4 distance guys on the team and was scoring points every race. I really improved on my times, but not enough to get any class or school records. But, I did individually win a race and that was awesome. I qualified for the 3200m and 1600m at state and took 3rd and 5th. And it was really a good improvement from last year.

3 miles in the morning to shake the legs out.

As we got to the race I figured that I was racing last, so I rested and then I went on a warmup. We went about a mile then on the announcement the person said that fast girls then fast boys would race. So I was rushing to get my spikes and then they said that they were going to go back to the original plan. So I was rushing for nothing. I had already started to run around the turf to get some more of my warmup in. When the third group of boys were gonna my to the line I started my striders and then Sage said to me "That is Alek Parsons" and I was super ready for the race because it was going to be fast with the Ogden runners in the race. Felt really good, maybe too good... 1:07, 1.10, 1:10, 1:09. For a 4:36. Not to shabby, but another 1600m at region.

Got to the meet at about 8:30 and met up with Kale. We then waited for Sage and after he showed up we left for our warmup. We got the bike paths in front of the school. During our warmup Sage stop for a couple moments, but me and Kale kept running as we kept running Alek Parsons and the other Ogden guys past us. Sage was still behind us and when he caught up to us Kale said to him " Now all of the Ogden runners think your the slowest out of all of us!" That was pretty funny. But we got back to the track and continued to jog, do calisthenics and some strides. When we got to the line I was surprised to stand in the third spot with two Ogden guys to my left and two to my right and both Kale and Sage just outside of them. While the names were still being called I was able to talk to the Ogden guys and tell them where I was from and listen to them trash talk each other. As the race when off I was a little stuck, but nothing really bad. I did however see Alex and the rest of Pine View start off running up with Alek Parsons. As things went on the first laps weren't great 1:15 and 1:12. Not what I really was shooting for first too slow then too fast. But, around the third and fourth laps Kale caught up with me and from then out I tried to stick on him. Throughout the next two laps I was successful. Lap 7 killed me, with a 1:17. Sage and Eric caught me. I decided that I was going to finish with sage and not let anyone else pass me. Finished at a 9:54. Cooled down 2 miles and finished with running circles in the small skating place on the hill.
